Sheryll Murray Watch
Conservative majority 20,971 (39.1%)
Our MP Sheryll Murray sits on the Defra committee and claims that her primary interests include the environment. Indeed, she signed up to a Bill to establish a framework of community energy schemes, including a mechanism to enable community renewable generation.
However, she has generally voted against measures to prevent climate change and against financial incentives for low carbon emission electricity generation methods. She has also in the main voted against laws to promote equality and human rights.
And locally she has a poor record on water quality and voted against moves to require landlords such as herself to upgrade the quality of rented property or to keep rents down.
Sheryll Murray is very reluctant to engage with local constituents. After much correspondence, we met with her to voice our concerns over climate and the environment but were given short shrift and were told that she was not willing to speak to non-Tory voters. Our dismissal has made us feel disenfranchised and so we signed up to the MP Watch network for support and resources to hold our MP to account.
We are, as yet, a small group but would appreciate support with social media and letter writing. Please get in touch if you have felt equally frustrated at not being represented.
