Sarah Dyke has represented Blackmoor Vale on Somerset Council since the 2022 local elections, where she chaired the regeneration board for the council and was lead member for environment and climate change. On her election as an MP, she commented on the absence of her predecessor, saying:

"Instead of an absent Conservative MP letting you down, you have an active Lib Dem MP lifting you up."

Since her election we have monitored her closely to see whether this statement is supported by her actions and not just the usual party political rhetoric. Over a six month period (up until April 2024) we have found that she is regularly in her constituency, particularly during a parliamentary recess. She holds regular Coffee Forums in the constituency during those parliamentary standdowns (a member of Somerton & Frome MP Watch has already attended three of them to see how she interacts with her constituents and whether she takes any action in response to issues raised by them).

In the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, Somerton and Frome was identified as a constituency that needed its boundaries redrawn and at the forthcoming general election, it will become part of two new constituencies: Glastonbury and Somerton, and Frome and East Somerset. Sarah Dyke has already been selected as the prospective Liberal Democrat Candidate for the Glastonbury and Somerton constituency.
