Nick Gibb
Conservative majority in 2019: 22,503
Nick Gibb has been our MP since 1997. Last year he announced he would not be standing at the next election, but no successor has been named yet. He was previously a Minister of State (Education) and stepped down in November 2023.
On the vast majority of issues he has followed instructions from his party and voted the same way as other Conservative MPs. He is not a member of the Conservative Environment Network and has:
generally voted against measures to prevent climate change
almost always voted against the preservation of environmental protections after withdrawal from the EU
consistently voted against improving biodiversity
generally voted against improving environmental water quality
consistently voted against improving air quality
