Although Corbyn has been a controversial leader of the Labour Party, by and large been on the side of the angels when it comes to working tirelessly for his constituents and well-being in the wider world.
He has compared his concerns about the environment to a sort of "spiritualism", has been a vegetarian for nearly 50 years, and is a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Cycling.
In 2013, Corbyn was awarded the Gandhi International Peace Award for his "consistent efforts over a 30-year parliamentary career to uphold the Gandhian values of social justice and non‐violence."
Although you might search for this in vain in the UK press, in July 2023, a YouGov opinion poll found that Corbyn was the politician with the highest popularity (30%) in Britain.
Jeremy is a very accessible local MP, out and about frequently in the constituency, and very open to conversation and debate. I look forward to supporting him on his work pushing for the reaching of Net Zero targets and climate mitigation measures.
